What medical weight loss means at Amaira

Medical weight loss is weight management with a licensed medical team involved from the start. Instead of a one-size plan, your provider looks at your health history, your habits and what you've tried before. A plan can include nutrition and activity guidance, regular check-ins with our team and, when your provider decides it's appropriate, prescription treatment.

Not everyone needs a prescription, and nothing is prescribed from a form alone. Every decision is made by a licensed provider after a consultation and screening.

Who it may be a fit for

Medical weight loss may be worth discussing if you are an adult whose weight affects your health or comfort, you want medical supervision rather than another quick fix, and you're ready to share your health history openly.

It isn't right for everyone. Our team takes extra care, and may recommend another path, if you:

• are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding
• are under 18
• have a history of an eating disorder (this always starts with a live conversation with your provider)
• have certain thyroid, kidney, liver, heart or digestive conditions
• have diabetes and take medication for it, or take other medications that could interact

Your provider makes the final call, and if medical weight loss isn't a fit, we'll tell you honestly.

What happens at your in-person consultation

Your consultation takes place in person at the Amaira office that suits you best. In-person is our default. Virtual consultations are also available if that is easier, and virtual is for the consultation only.

At your consultation, our team will:

• talk about your goals, your weight history and what has or hasn't worked before
• review your health history, current medications and supplements
• discuss everyday factors like sleep, stress, eating patterns and activity
• explain whether lab work is needed before a plan is set
• walk you through what a plan would look like and how follow-up works

You leave with a clear next step, and there's no pressure to decide on the spot.

What to bring to your consultation

A little preparation makes the conversation more useful. If you can, bring:

• a list of every medication, vitamin and supplement you take, with the amounts
• any recent lab work or medical records you already have
• a short history of the approaches you've tried before and how they went for you
• the questions you want answered, written down so nothing gets missed

If you don't have records with you, that's fine. Our team will tell you what's needed and help you plan the next step.

Screening and safety come first

Before any plan is approved, our licensed medical team reviews your health history and medications and may ask for recent lab work or order new labs. Some conditions need a closer look, and some mean a different approach is safer for you.

If your provider recommends prescription treatment, they'll explain how it works, what side effects to watch for and when to contact our team. Like any medical treatment, it can have side effects and can interact with other medications.

We don't promise specific numbers or dates. Every body is different, and your provider will be honest with you about what to expect in your situation.

Ongoing support from our team

Medical weight loss works best as a partnership. If your provider approves a plan, our team stays involved: your provider sets how often you check in, reviews how you're doing, and adjusts or stops the plan when needed. Practical guidance on food, movement and habits is part of the conversation, and you can always come in to talk to our team in person.
