Breast Reduction

WHAT IS BREAST REDUCTION?

Customized approach. Refined techniques.

Confidence that feels natural.

Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammoplasty, removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to achieve a breast size more proportionate to your body. Many patients seek this procedure to relieve chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain, posture issues, skin irritation beneath the breast fold, or difficulty exercising and finding clothing that fits comfortably.

The result is both functional and aesthetic — meaningful physical relief alongside a more balanced, refined contour. At Amaira Med Spa & Surgical, our skilled surgeons design each reduction to address your specific symptoms and goals while preserving natural shape, nipple sensation, and breastfeeding potential whenever possible.

PRE-CARE

Preparing Your Results

  • Maintain a stable weight: Significant weight fluctuations after surgery can alter your results. Be at or near your goal weight before scheduling to lock in proportions.
  • Complete pre-op imaging: A current mammogram is typically required to establish baseline tissue health and rule out underlying issues before reduction.
  • Avoid blood thinners: Discontinue aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for 2 weeks pre-op to minimize bleeding and bruising during the procedure.
  • Plan extended recovery time: Most patients need 1–2 weeks off work, plus help with household tasks and childcare for the first week. Stock up on front-closure tops and easy meals.

POST-CARE

Protecting Your Results

  • Care for surgical drains (if placed): Empty and record drain output as instructed. Most drains come out within 1–2 weeks at your follow-up visit.
  • Avoid lifting >10 lbs for 4–6 weeks: Heavy lifting and strenuous chest/arm activity can stress incisions and delay healing. Walking is encouraged from day one.
  • Sleep elevated on your back: Back-sleeping with the upper body raised for the first 4 weeks prevents pressure on incisions and minimizes swelling overnight.
  • Be patient with final shape: Initial firmness, swelling, and a “boxy” appearance are normal. Breasts gradually soften and settle into their final shape over 3–6 months.
