WHAT IS BREAST LIFT (MASTOPEXY)?
Customized approach. Refined techniques.
Confidence that feels natural.
A breast lift, medically known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. Many patients consider a lift after pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, or the natural effects of aging and gravity.
While a breast lift doesn’t significantly change breast size, it dramatically improves position, projection, and overall shape — restoring a youthful, refined silhouette. At Amaira Med Spa & Surgical, our board-certified surgeons tailor every mastopexy to your unique anatomy, skin elasticity, and aesthetic goals, with careful incision planning to minimize visible scarring.
PRE-CARE
Preparing Your Results
- Stop smoking 4–6 weeks prior: Smoking severely restricts blood flow to skin and tissue, which is especially critical for lift procedures where skin healing along incision lines determines scar quality and reduces risk of wound separation.
- Maintain a stable weight: Significant weight changes after surgery can stretch or distort lifted tissue. Aim to be at or near your goal weight before scheduling.
- Avoid blood thinners: Discontinue aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil, and other blood-thinning supplements 2 weeks before surgery to reduce bruising and bleeding risk.
- Complete pre-op labs and imaging: Medical clearance and a baseline mammogram (if recommended) ensure you’re a safe candidate and document your pre-op anatomy.
POST-CARE
Protecting Your Results
- Wear your surgical bra continuously for 6 weeks: Consistent support stabilizes the lifted tissue, reduces swelling, and protects your new contour while incisions mature.
- Sleep elevated on your back for 4 weeks: Back-sleeping with the upper body slightly elevated prevents pressure on incisions and reduces swelling overnight.
- Avoid lifting >10 lbs for 4–6 weeks: Strenuous activity, especially anything involving the chest and arms, can stress incisions and compromise healing.
- Practice scar care diligently: Follow your surgeon’s instructions for silicone strips or scar massage starting at the right time. Keep incisions out of direct sun for at least 12 months.
