What is Breast Enhancement?

How It Works

The breast enhancement process begins with a comprehensive consultation where we discuss your goals, review your medical history, and determine the best approach for your needs. There are two ways to achieve your desired breast enhancement:

Implant Placement:

Silicone or saline implants are inserted through small incisions made in discreet locations to reduce visible scarring. The surgeon creates a pocket behind the breast tissue or chest muscle to place the implant.

Alternative – Fat Transfer:

Instead of implants, fat transfer breast augmentation involves liposuction to remove fat from other body areas. The harvested fat is purified and then injected into the breasts for augmentation.

Candidates

Ideal candidates for breast enhancement are individuals who are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and are seeking to improve the appearance of their breasts. Whether you wish to increase breast size, restore volume, or achieve better symmetry, our team will work with you to create a customized treatment plan.

Adult women in good physical and mental health with no underlying health issues are ideal candidates for breast augmentation. We ask that patients:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Refrain from smoking for three weeks prior to surgery and throughout their recovery
  • Have a clear understanding of the procedure’s potential outcomes

Recovery

Post-surgery recovery is a crucial part of the breast enhancement process. Patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort for the first few days. Our surgeons will provide detailed aftercare instructions to help manage pain and ensure proper healing. Most patients can return to normal activities within a week, but strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least four to six weeks.

Frequent Questions

The surgery usually takes about one to two hours, depending on the complexity and type of augmentation being performed.

Our surgeons make incisions in inconspicuous areas, such as under the breast crease, around the nipple, or in the armpit, to minimize visible scarring. Over time, scars will fade significantly.

Yes, both silicone and saline implants are FDA-approved and considered safe for breast augmentation. Our surgeons will help you choose the type that best suits your needs and preferences.

While breast implants are designed to be long-lasting, they are not considered lifetime devices. Most implants last between 10 to 20 years, but many factors can influence their longevity.

Many women can still breastfeed after breast enhancement. However, this depends on the type of surgery and placement of the implants. Discuss your plans for breastfeeding with your surgeon during the consultation.

As with any surgical procedure, breast enhancement carries some risks, including infection, bleeding, implant rupture, and changes in nipple or breast sensation. Our surgeons will discuss all potential risks and complications with you during your consultation.
